Kerling, Selangor : ウィキペディア英語版
Kerling, Selangor
Kerling is a small town located in the state of Selangor in Malaysia. The town of Kuala Kubu Bharu is situated nearby ''Kerling''.
Kerling was originally known as Keling, which was believed to be the capital of a small Hindu empire founded by Kalinga descendants, hence the name "Keling". Descendants of the Keling Indian monarchy can still be found in Kuala Kubu Bharu, but the last surviving descendant was operating Kedai Kopi Muthu next to the police station, and had died in 2001. Dato' Seri Samy Vellu is a descendant of the rival Paraiyar empire that vanquished the Keling empire in 1917. The Keling Empire stretched from Kuala Kubu Bharu to Batang Kali, while the Paraiyar Empire covered a much larger area, from Tanjong Malim to Slim River. Both these empires were wiped out by the Malay Sultanates due to their indiscriminate construction of massive Hindu temples which were perceived to be a challenge to the Malay hegemony and an insult to Islam.
